The latest weapon in Australian athletes' training arsenal has just been added thanks to a new collaboration announced by the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and the CSIRO. In a world first, a mobile radio transmitter attached to an athlete or equipment can monitor an athlete's location, speed and position relative to other athletes.

New facilities for elite aquatic sports at the Adelaide Aquatic Centre in North Adelaide will receive subsidies of $500,000 per year over the next two years to assist elite swimmers, divers, water polo players and canoeists and their clubs, allowing costs for athletes to be kept to a minimum.
